How CAT scoring works
The CAT Score Calculator helps you compute your total raw score from the number of correct and incorrect answers in each section (VARC, DILR, and QA). CAT uses a fixed marking scheme: +3 for every correct answer and -1 for every incorrect answer. Unattempted questions carry zero marks.
Knowing your raw score is the first step before estimating your percentile. Use this tool after mocks or the actual exam to quickly verify your sectional and overall scores. The exam body later converts raw scores to percentiles using the candidate distribution.
Frequently asked questions
What is the maximum CAT score?
The maximum raw score is 306 (102 per section: 34 questions × 3 marks). Your percentile depends on how others performed in your session and across sessions.
How is the CAT raw score calculated?
For each section, multiply correct answers by 3 and subtract the number of incorrect answers (1 mark per wrong answer). Add the three sectional scores for the total raw score.
Do unattempted questions affect my score?
No. Unattempted questions get zero marks and do not add or subtract from your score. Only correct (+3) and incorrect (-1) answers count.
